Program Overview
Pelago-Opioid (Pel-O) is a mobile app-based program used in conjunction with medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) treatment. The Pel-O program provides patients access to virtual meetings with their counselor and medical provider as well as treatment tracking (including daily opioid self-reporting), educational materials, opioid use disorder and buprenorphine resources, and mindfulness activities. Educational materials include digital CBT and MET modules, craving exercises, and craving management tools. The CBT modules include videos, quizzes, and bidirectional text features. Gamification of the CBT modules encourages users to complete modules for rewards, achievements, streaks, and badges. The app is designed to be used in conjunction with face-to-face or virtual treatment where counselors can engage with patients via the app and suggest relevant educational modules to complement counseling sessions.
