Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-i) is an effective therapy for treating insomnia, which is a common problem for individuals with anxiety and depression. Many patients cannot access CBT-i because of the demand for, and cost of, treatment. Seventy-five adults with insomnia disorder completed a web-based version of CBT-i over 6-8 weeks. Throughout the study, participants completed a sleep diary and entered their nightly sleep patterns on the CBT-i website. After completing CBT-i, participants had better sleep efficiency and increased total sleep time. Participants also reported improvements in sleep quality. Results of this study show that CBT-i is a promising online treatment for insomnia disorder in adults.
