CTBH is delighted to announce that Dr. Andrew Campbell is now the Director, and Dr. Varun Mishra is the Deputy Director, of the Emerging Technologies and Data Analytics (ETDA) Core of the Center for Technology and Behavioral Health’s (CTBH) NIH P30 “Center of Excellence”.
Dr. Campbell is the Albert Bradley 1915 Third Century Professor in Computer Science at Dartmouth College. He is an experimental computer scientist developing new sensing technology to infer human behavior and surrounding context. His group developed the first continuous sensing application, and he has pioneered the use of smartphones as sensors across diverse domains including mental health and wellness.
Dr. Mishra is Assistant Professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences and the Department of Health Sciences in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University, with expertise in ubiquitous computing at the intersection of data science, human-centered computing, mobile sensing, and behavioral science. His work focuses on the complete “lifecycle” of behavioral health sensing and intervention, which includes (a) accurately detecting a specific behavioral health condition, such as stress or opioid use; (b) determining the right time to deliver an intervention, such that the user is most likely to be receptive to the intervention; and (c) choosing the best intervention delivery mechanism and modality to ensure just-in-time delivery and reachability.
Both Drs. Campbell and Mishra have been extensively involved in CTBH for many years, and we are excited to welcome them into their new leadership roles.
We greatly thank Dr. David Kotz for his excellent prior leadership of CTBH’s ETDA Core since the inception of the Core. As many of you know, Dave has recently assumed the position of Provost of Dartmouth College. And, due to the magnitude of responsibilities of the Provost position, he is no longer able to continue in a leadership role at CTBH. However, we are delighted that he will remain an actively engaged faculty affiliate of CTBH.
